Kugelblitz Physics
Your companion for QCAA Senior Physics (2025 Syllabus v1.3).
Course overview
Physics is a General senior syllabus consisting of four QCAA-developed units. Each unit has a notional time of 55 hours of teaching and learning, including assessment.
| Unit | Title | Topics |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Thermal, Nuclear & Electrical Physics | Heating processes · Ionising radiation & nuclear reactions · Electrical circuits |
| 2 | Linear Motion & Waves | Linear motion & force · Waves |
| 3 | Gravity & Electromagnetism | Gravity & motion · Electromagnetism |
| 4 | Revolutions in Modern Physics | Special relativity · Quantum theory · The Standard Model |
Units 1 & 2 are completed first. Units 3 & 4 are studied as a pair, beginning in the final weeks of the year and continuing into the following year.
How to use this site
Each unit has two ways to navigate:
Lesson planner — a sequential, lesson-by-lesson view that tracks the progression through the course. Each lesson row links to the relevant topic page and flags whether it is theory, practical, or assessment focused.
Topic pages — reference pages organised by subject. Each page contains theory notes with key formulas, embedded simulations and videos, worked examples, practice problems, and links to external resources.
Assessment structure
| Assessment | Type | Weighting |
|---|---|---|
| IA1 — Data test | Supervised test | 10% |
| IA2 — Student experiment | Individual experiment report | 20% |
| IA3 — Research investigation | Individual research report | 20% |
| External exam | Combination response (Paper 1 + Paper 2) | 50% |
